C. SLAUGHTERHOUSE

A new slaughterhouse is to be built in barangay Manhanip. The purchase of a 300 sq. m. lot is in the process of negotiations.

The temporary slaughterhouse is near the former slaughterhouse which is now partly washed away by the Aklan River. As it is, this temporary slaughterhouse is serving its purpose. Running water is available and waste goes into a septic tank.

L: Temporary Slaughterhouse; R: Old slaughterhouse eroded by flooding of the Aklan River

D. PUBLIC TOILETS

All public toilets in the municipality are in good condition. They are clean and orderly. Basic supplies are available. There are no foul odors. The trash receptacles are segregated and covered.

E. WASTE SEGREGATION AT SOURCE

The municipal government has made an announcement to the residents of the poblacion that garbage should be segregated into three categories before disposal at the public garbage drums. The categories are: biodegradable (gakaeonot), non-biodegradable (di gakaeonot) and toxic (makahilo). The public garbage drums have separate sections for these categories.

Offices, commercial or business establishments practice waste segregation at source. All barangays are engaged in waste segregation.

F. EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE GARBAGE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL SYSTEM

The municipality has sufficient equipment and well-trained manpower for an effective and efficient garbage disposal system.

Our dumping site is well-maintained.

G. ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY PRACTICES

There is a standing order from the municipal government to the police to apprehend smoke belching vehicles. There is an anti-littering ordinance from way back which is always strictly imposed. That is why our town is very clear of litter.

Everybody has access to safe drinking water since we have a safe water system courtesy of the Malinao Water District.

All households have sanitary toilets.

There are no stray animals on the streets or other public areas. The streets are clear of dogs and other dangerous animals like tigers and elephants :-).
