  Barangay Rosario celebrated its RH (Reproductive Health) Day on October 12, 2003. Reproductive health concerns are alive in Rosario because of the presence of a program on RH assisted by the United Nations. Trainings and fund support are provided by the UN, the Provincial Government and the LGU of Malinao for RH programs. On October 10, 2003 farmers from Tambu-an who are participants of the Farmer's Field School had their Field Day. On this day visitors toured the various farms that were tilled by participants applying their knowledge from the FFS. This occassion was graced by the presence of personnel from the Aklan State University (ASU), Provincial Agricultural Office, and Municipal Agricultural Office. Special mention is the presence of Dr. Madonna C. Casimero, Program Leader from PhilRice, who came all the way from Nueva Ecija just to grace the Field Day. The Congregation of the Penitent Sisters of Fatima Hills in Rosario is celebrating the 100th birthday of the Ermitanyo this year. Festivities will start on August 21. The Congregation and the Monastery is becoming to be an important religious institution in Aklan. An American team, Ventures for Victory Basketball Team played in Malinao, August 6, 2003. THE Nutrition Month Parada 2003 happened last July 30, 2003, the penultimate event held for the Nutrition Month celebration. After the parade, the culmination program was held at the bandstand. A Healthy Baby Contest was held last July 29, 2003 in conjunction with our town's celebration of the Nutrition Month. Jessie Boy Tambong of Cogon emerged as the healthiest baby of Malinao 2003! Malinao conducts anti-drug campaign - July 24, 2003 Malinao sells handmade notecards on the Internet! These are beautiful cards of pressed wildflowers produced by the Office of the Mayor - July 23, 2003 On the spot drawing contest - As part of the celebration of the Nutrition Month, the municipality of Malinao launched a nutrition-themed drawing contest among elementary and high school students on July 22, 2003 at the Municipal Hall. Malinao places third in Aklan's Clean and Green Contest - July 17, 2003 Congresswoman Billie Calizo donates trash bins to Malinao - July 14, 2003 Osman tops the beautification and sanitation contest - We just recently completed the evaluation for the best looking and cleanest barangay in our town. The most remote barangay, Osman came out first - uploaded July 9, 2003. Malinao Fiesta Civic Parade and Program - Here's a pictorial highlight of the April 30th celebration of our town fiesta: a civic parade and program with the Honorable Governor Florencio T. Miraflores as guest speaker. Vegetable Harvest Festival - A model vegetable farm in Bulabud is the site of a festival celebratingh the harvest of different vegetables - April 15, 2003 As part of the celebration of the 47th anniversary of the founding of the province of Aklan, a trade fair is being held at the Capitol Grounds, Kalibo. It's that time of the year once again - when many members of the youth of Malinao end one phase of their lives to begin another one ... What lies ahead of them ... no one knows. But one thing is for sure, the future is bright for them, for they are the cream of the crop, the best Malinao has to offer. I have been busy attending conferences during the last weeks of February and early March. One was a conference on tourism in Baguio City and another was a forum by the UNFPA on reproductive health in Manila. Malinao is a recipient of this project from the UNFPA. It is initially based in Rosario - I am the only mayor from Aklan who is being sent for this forum. They have to choose only one among the participating municipalities. Fiesta Preparation. We are now preparing for our town fiesta and are soliciting for sponsorships. Malinaonons who are interested in an advertisement in our souvenir program, the solicitation letter is located here.
